Accessing Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF)/ODA Funding Workshop
Time: 13:00 - 17:00
Venue: King's Manor, University of York
This workshop is aimed at academic staff from the N8 Research Partnership Universities (Durham, Lancaster, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Sheffield, and York).
The Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF) is a new five-year £1.5 billion funding stream, announced as part of the Government's 2015 spending review. It forms part of the UK's Official Development Assistance (ODA) commitment, to support cutting-edge research which addresses the problems faced by developing countries. The RCUK allocation forms the largest part of this fund with the majority of this funding in a collective fund. Calls are being announced fast, and there is significant potential for N8 partner Universities to collaborate and target this development-led interdisciplinary funding.
Attendees will be able to put their questions directly to presenters including Jennie Dodson who is the Research & Policy Officer, UKCDS and Brian Harris, the Head of Strategy - Agriculture, Food and Environment at BBSRC. You will learn more about the GCRF opportunities and ODA research priorities in the area of sustainable agriculture, identify N8 strengths and map these to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, scope the potential for large cross-institutional N8 bids, and more.
Please note that places are limited, and we would encourage attendees to book by 28th September. The venue is walking distance from York railway station (we would encourage arriving by public transport when possible) and a light lunch will be served.
