BeeActive Walk: TfGM's Winter Walking Week
Venue: Outside the Entrance to Manchester Oxford Road Rail Station, Station Approach, Oxford Rd, M1 6FU
BeeActive is one of the health and social care uses cases which forms part of the CityVerve project. Over the past few months we have been working hard on improving the app and its functionality so that people will soon be able to start using it to increase their walking. Missions are being designed so that people will be notified when they are about to start, either based on time or their location. So far, the BeeActive team have been busy clocking up their own steps with app testing and making sure everything works the way it should.
The app will re-launch in February to coincide with TfGM’s Winter Walking Week which takes place from 17th-25th February. Your mission will be to join the BeeActive walk which leaves Oxford Road train station at 11.30am on Wednesday 21st February. You will learn about the history of the Manchester worker bee, the symbol that has become so familiar and meaningful to the community of Manchester, particularly in recent months. The walk will follow the trail of Manchester worker bees throughout the city and you may even spot some bees in unexpected locations. All in all it’s a lot of fun and it gets you away from your desk and walking for a little while. So why not accept the mission and join us for the BeeActive walk on 21st February when you can follow the route on the BeeActive app on your phone!
