Health & Life Sciences Industry Brokerage Event

Time: 10:00 - 13:00

Venue: CityLabs 1.0, Oxford Road, Manchester, M13 9NQ

Sorry, this event has now ended.

The information session intends to raise awareness of the upcoming Innovate UK Health & Life Sciences competition and associated Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTP) call which can attract co-financing from Research Councils such as MRC and BBSRC. They will also be showcasing a Reactive Industry Fund financed by BBSRC and MRC that will co-finance industry and academic collaborations to undertake small early stage feasability or experimental developments that have potential to lead onto a KTP application.

Innovate UK’s Health & Life Sciences sector group priorities include but are not limited to Precision Medicine, Advanced Therapies, Preclinical Therapies, Improving Agriculture Productivity, Enhanced Food Quality and Biosciences. The choice of funding stream will depend on the type of innovation project and the nature of the challenges and opportunities facing the business partner.

KTP will normally undertake a ‘business-critical’ project, lasting between 12 - 36 months, supported by a sound business case and dedicated resource in the form of a KTP Associate who is supervised by an academic team. The main objective is to transfer knowledge and skills in order to assist the company with their need, leading to innovative outcomes such as new product development, service or process enhancement. Each KTP must demonstrate a high level of IMPACT, INNOVATION and CHALLENGE.

KTP partnerships will also be supported throughout the proposal process and the project itself by the Knowledge Exchange Team which provides guidance and administrative assistance on all aspects of the KTP pre and post award. However, submission into the sector competition must be solely managed by the business partner.

The session will start at 10:00am and is expected to finish by 12:00pm followed by lunch.
