Digital technology is one of the leading innovations in governance for increased citizen participation. But how does innovation in technology transform governance? Does "opening up" lead to more inclusive development, i.e. making all voices count?

This panel event will unveil micro-level evidence on innovation in governance from both an analytical and practical perspective. Discussion will focus on unpacking the challenges of implementing open data and open governance in a developing country context.

Panellists:

Dr Suyoto (Mayor of Bojonegoro, Indonesia): “Innovation in Governance – Evidence at the Subnational Government Level”

Dinita Putri (Centre for Innovation Policy and Governance, Indonesia): “From Smart City to Open City – Lessons from Jakarta”

Chair:

Prof Richard Heeks (Centre for Development Informatics, GDI)
