UK’s leading innovation event comes to the Midlands
The UK’s leading innovation event, Innovate 2017, is coming to the West Midlands in November.
The annual innovation showcase will take place between November 8-9 at the NEC, Birmingham and is expected to attract 2,500 businesses from across the country.
The event will bring the UK’s leading innovators together to inspire businesses, individuals and governments to tackle the challenges of tomorrow. It will include an exhibition of 100 game-changing innovations from businesses across the country.
Businesses attending will hear from West Midlands Mayor Andy Street who will be one of the keynote speakers and Birmingham Innovation Hub and the Midlands Engine are also involved in the event.
Innovate UK Chief Executive Ruth McKernan said: “We are very excited to be taking our annual flagship innovation showcase to the Midlands this year. Innovate 2017 will be an excellent platform for showcasing the strength of Midlands innovation to a national and international audience.”
Sir John Peace, Chairman of the Midlands Engine said: “I’m delighted that Midlands Engine is supporting this year’s Innovate conference. Only through a focus on UK innovation can we tackle some of the biggest global challenges. The Midlands Engine Vision for Growth highlights innovation and enterprise as one of the of the region’s priority areas and through intermediate and longer-term investments and initiatives will generate a step change in productivity and international competitiveness – and help drive Britain's post-Brexit growth.
“The Midlands Engine Science and Innovation Audit released last year, highlighted exciting new growth sectors for our region - including next generation transport; medical technologies and pharmaceuticals; energy and low carbon; and future food processing. In my view, these areas and others are key to the UK's future Industrial Strategy.”
