North Coders Java Conversion Course
Venue: Northcoders, Federation House, Federation Street, Manchester
Northcoders have created a 3-week Java conversion course for Software Developers who would like to get to grips with Java and related enterprise tools and practices.
You know how to code. You know how things work with a non-Java stack. You will be raring to prove that you can pick up any new technology quickly and become an industry-ready Junior Java Developer.
It is a full time intensive course which takes place Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 6pm over 3 weeks, starting Monday 7th August and ending on Friay 25th August.
This is an outline of the course content:
Week One – Core Fundamental
Principles of Object oriented design
Java language fundamentals
Introduction to Inversion of Control/Dependency injection (IOP)
Introduction to Aspect Oriented Programming (AOP)
Week Two – Spring Framework Hands On
- MVC and RestControllers
- Spring JPA and Working with Data
- Object validation
- Testing (Unit and Integration) with Spring
- TDD with Java – The Red, Green Refactor journey
- Framework alternatives - DropWizard

Academics of a 12factor application
Dependency management (Maven/Gradle)
Externalised config (Properties files and Spring Cloud)
Continuous Integration and Continuous deployment pipelines (Jenkins)
Academics of operational ready software (logging, transaction tracing, monitoring, spring actuator)
