Technology, Coding & Law Event

Time: 15.00-17.00

Venue: Moseley Theatre, Schuster Building, The University of Manchester

Sorry, this event has now ended.

Technology and coding are now beginning to play a vital role in both the legal and financial worlds.  Legal technology has now reached a level of sophistication where it can be a game changer for lawyers overwhelmed by the demand for pace and cost-efficiency. An understanding of technology and its uses is a key skill which many employers in many different fields now look for in applicants.  This session will give a great insight into the changing role technology in the world of work. A very starry line up of speakers, including Alistair Maiden from SYKE TECH, a legal engineering business that helps businesses and law firms to procure and use technology to solve legal problems; Alex Hamilton from RADIANT LAW, a company at the forefront of transforming the way commercial contracts are supported by technology in large organisations and Maeve Lavelle from NEOTA LOGIC, a company which enables rapid development of tech applications that replicate the thinking and actions of experts, will answer key questions such as ‘What impact will AI technology have on law?’ and ‘Do I need to learn to code?’.  F-Lex will also be at the session to talk to you about work opportunities within this field which you can do alongside your studies.

Every student on every degree course and at every level of study is encouraged to attend this – it really IS the future, and not just for law!
