Future Leaders in Health Data Science

Application Deadline: 5th November 2016

Shaping the next generation of international leaders in health data science is a two year residential and network based mentorship and career development programme for mid-career, independent researchers.

Programme Overview

The formal programme lasts for two years with an annual residential meeting, allowing participants to explore and develop the qualities and skills required for leadership in the field of health data science research. Throughout, participants will identify their individual learning needs, build peer learning groups and establish programmes of collaboration. Mentorship will be provided by The Farr Institute’s directors and other senior leaders in health data science with the second residential course providing access to leadership training. Cohort members will undertake visits to other institutions to build collaborations, further research training and develop international networks. It is expected that cohorts will maintain relationships and will have the option to return to additional residential meetings with future groups of participants after the first 2 years. The programme has an annual recruitment round and accepts 10-12 applicants each year from international Institutions.

The programme is aimed at mid-career professionals who have established or are establishing an independent research profile. Professionals from all research fields contributing to health data science are welcome to apply, representing the multi-disciplinary nature of research. The residential courses will be UK-based but will have an international focus.

How much will it cost?

Attendance to residential meetings is subsidised by The Farr Institute. Participants and their sponsoring Institutions will be expected to cover the following costs throughout the duration of the programme:

• Travel to and from the two residential meetings
• Travel and subsistence incurred through visiting other participant’s Institutions
• Incidental costs incurred while hosting other participants at local Institutions
