Open to any UK organisation, Innovate UK are delivering a competition on behalf of the Department of Health to invest up to £4 million to support the UK’s capability to conduct research into antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The aim will be to develop new products and services that will reduce the impact of drug resistant pathogens, slow down the emergence of new ones, and produce new products and services including drugs, vaccines and diagnostics.
Focusing on antibacterial resistance, the competition aims to:
- strengthen research and innovation excellence across the UK
- maximise private sector engagement and leverage funding
- capitalise on existing UK expertise in AMR research and innovation
- support and use capability in different regions
Funding requests expected to be between £200,000 and £2 million but larger and smaller grants will be considered. Projects need to demonstrate that the capital investment grant they're requesting will advance the UK's ability to tackle the global challenges of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), and encourage public/private partnerships and maximise further investment.
