Submission Deadline: 14th July 2017
The Greater Manchester Academic Health Science Network have established their Innovation Funds to facilitate the introduction and widespread use of needs-led, evidence-based innovations into the healthcare system in our local area. Whilst promoting local economic growth and supporting the development of local businesses, this will have a significant impact on improving the health of our citizens.
Three categories of funding are available:
- Ignite Fund- Patient Safety and Mental Health.
The Ignite Fund is designed to support early stage development of innovative solutions to identify unmet need within the GM AHSN area and innovations focusing on the community & primary care are especially encouraged. Although particularly focused on collaborations led by HEI members with partners, applications from SMEs and NHS/Social Care are also very much welcome. Where an SME is part of the collaboration, priority will be given to Greater Manchester based SMEs including inward investment companies who have a base in the GM area.
Please note that all applications must include involvement from an NHS or Social Care organisation from within GM AHSN’s footprint.

- Energise Fund- Focusing on GM AHSN priority areas.
The Energise Fund is designed to support proof of concept or prototyping projects for a defined application. Applications will be welcomed from within the NHS, Academia and/or SMEs. Priority will be given to Greater Manchester based innovators; this includes inward investment companies who have a base in the GM area. GM AHSN will prioritise support to SMEs operating within Greater Manchester, East Lancashire and East Cheshire with innovative products or services that fit within the GM AHSN’s current clinical priority areas. Consideration will also be given to companies from outside the GM AHSN footprint wishing to work with GM AHSN member Trusts and CCGs, e.g., for trials/evaluations.
Please note that all applicants, if not an NHS organisation, must have an NHS (or appropriate social care organisation) partner within the GM AHSN footprint.

SMEs in the GM AHSN footprint will be given priority including inward investing companies establishing a base in the GM area. Please click here to find out more about the Momentum Fund.
