Mental health charity MQ has announced £200,000 worth of funding to be awarded to scientists looking to expand the use of data resources for mental health research.
MQ is the first major charity dedicated to funding mental health research. Their vision is to create a world where mental illness is better understood, effectively treated and ultimately made preventable.
For this funding programme, MQ are particularly interested in applications that:
- Focus on children and young people’s mental health
- Include academic and non-academic partners
- Include collaborations across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Previous successful applications to MQ’s Data Science Programme have tackled a broad range of issues, from the impact of genetic risk factors on the physical health of someone with schizophrenia to using school records to help identify suicide warning signs in children.
MQ is dedicated to funding the best and brightest scientists, leading the way in world-class mental health research. They will consider applications that aim to transform our understanding of mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), attention deficit hyperactive-disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder and more.
