As part of the CityVerve project, Buzzin app has been created by Sparta Digital to offer app users the UK’s first augmented reality interactive walking tour. The app interacts with the City of Firsts plaques can be found all around Manchester which inform us of the rich history of innovation in the place that we call home. Focusing on the Oxford Road corridor, the app takes you on a journey along a mapped out route to discover Manchester's role as a stage for pioneering activity that has shaped our society.
Along with learning more about the splitting of the atom and the Suffragette movement, this educational tour includes a number of impressive Manchester firsts, including the Midland hotel- which played host to the first ever meeting of Charles Rolls and Henry Royce and consequent formation of the world famous Rolls-Royce.
Brightly coloured CityVerve plaques have been installed to guide you through the walk, which were created using recycled products from industries that have played an important part in Manchester's history. In itself, this is another 'first' to contribute to the ever growing list of exciting ideas that have grown in Manchester. The Buzzin app can also be used to reveal virtual art installations when used in conjunction with the seven plinths that have been installed around the city, in places like Manchester Town hall and Manchester Art Gallery.
