IBM's CEO, Ginni Rometti, says Artificial Intelligence will unlock the golden era for health.
The CEO called on health IT leaders to embrace the potential of cognitive computing to achieve transformational changes in health, in areas including precision medicine, genomics, diagnosis and clinical decision making, to open up a new 'golden era'.
Rometti acknowledged much had to be done to allay people's concerns about AI but stated "cognitive healthcare is real and here and can change almost everything about healthcare". Speaking of IBM's multi-billion investment in Watson cognitive computing, she suggested many parts of healthcare can be transformed, from epidemiology to personalised healthcare.
Digital is foundation to everything. But competitive advantage will come from cognitive.
